Adding even more value to this Tamil Cinema Tribute Event, filmmaker C. Rasi Azhagappan brings over four decades of experience in literature, journalism, screen writing and direction, and public speaking. His diverse career reflects a lifelong commitment to storytelling and creative expression.
He began his professional journey in journalism before entering the film industry as an Assistant Director at Rajkamal Films International under Padma Shri Kamal Haasan. Over the years, he worked on several celebrated Tamil films, including Apoorva Sagodharargal, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Gunaa, Magalir Mattum, Thevar Magan, Virumaandi, and Makkal Aatchi.
A Remarkable Journey Through Literature and Cinema
Rasi Azhagappan later directed and produced the award-winning children’s film Vannathupoochi, which received two Tamil Nadu State Government Awards. In addition, his short story Cycle inspired the feature film Kurangu Pedal, highlighting his ability to create stories that connect with audiences across generations.
His creative journey extends beyond cinema. He has authored more than 60 books covering poetry, children’s literature, cinema, personal development, and short stories.
